Mules were a style risk for me especially those with pointy toes. I was never a fan but then I saw a pair that peaked my interest so I bought them. I’m so glad I took the risk. I love them so much. They are chic yet casual. Just don’t wear them when you need to be somewhere in a hurry.

Comfort really is everything. I have two blazers/jackets which look great when I I'm standing in front of the mirror, but when I move, they pull around the bicep area - I don't reach for them. I also can't wear anything except a t shirt under them. Feeling guilty about selling (obviously!).

I've had jackets like that in the past too... They look great when you're stood still but completely impractical!

"And the same question works on the flip side: why don’t we have clothes that accurately reflect what we do every day?"

Love this

I love this supportive primer on risk taking in a way that makes us still feel like us. As someone who is constantly honing and refining who I am style wise, I really love the way you talk about these boundary pushes where you went somewhere, but also stayed within yourself in the best way. There is nothing worse that is fine than a risk that pays off and becomes an essential! I think about a men’s hot pink Dries van Noten blazer, in a waterproof fabric. I didn’t know where I would actually wear this thing and now I just push the sleeves up and use it all the time. It’s an instant way to feel lifted. Thanks again for sharing yours.

I always find if we really love a piece - like your Dries blazer - we'll find a way to wear it. Sometimes they're the pieces that make us feel the best!

Loved this A, I totally get what you mean. It’s a fine line between having a particular style and being in a rut - but then adding stuff that works alongside everything else (without losing yourself) is tricky xx
