Can I say I have just one foundation piece? It is a denim jumpsuit. I have 3 or 4 that I style on a casual day with Vans, a denim jacket or a long coat. On a dressed up occasion I throw on some heels or brogues with a blazer and I am out. I am such a lazy dresser that I realise now I really operate around those jumpsuits, and play around with jackets, shoes, socks, and accessories.
I love that. You know what you like (and feel good in) and have pieces that make great canvases for styling with other things. Sometimes 'lazy' is the best way to dress!
Great question! Some of those images were taken in spring/summer so I didn't need to wear super warm layers. Otherwise, I often wear leggings underneath my trousers (especially the loose linen ones) for extra warmth! The Uniqlo Heattech leggings are my favourite.
Loved reading this and as someone who’s style maybe doesn’t fit into the generic (?) capsule wardrobe you touched on, I love the idea of making my own foundations as you put it: the bones of my style I guess. Then I can play about with the rest!

How do you wear such light bottoms but stay warm?

After reading this, I think I realized that I need barrel leg pants in my capsule wardrobe too!
Once you start wearing them, there's no going back!

Thank you Sally! That's exactly it - everyone has their own version of a capsule wardrobe, which is what makes great personal style
Loved this post and it has inspired me to tidy up my own wardrobe!
It's amazing how good you'll feel after you do!
