What size do you wear in the something to hold shirt?

Expand full comment
Angharad Jones's avatar

I wear a medium, which is one size up from my "usual". It's quite oversized so you could go for your usual size and it would still have a relaxed fit.

I’m impatiently waiting for the snow to disappear and bought the Jalen sandals to spruce up my summer wardrobe. They fit perfectly and are so comfortable. Thank you so much for the recommendation; a comfy sandal is surprisingly hard to find!

I agree, so many sandals are far too stiff and don't have enough flex. The Jalen sandals are so comfortable from the first wear. I can't wait to wear mine again!

This post is so good, I’ve already referred to it more than once. Any chance you’d be willing to share thoughts on sizing for the Elwin jumper? I’m a little obsessed but trying to figure out if the OS situation will still be oversized on my postpartum self…thank you Angharad 💘

So glad you enjoyed it. It is very relaxed but I wouldn't say it's suuuper oversized (but then I have some very oversized jumpers so my bar is pretty high!). I'm a UK size 8. I can't say for certain as I haven't seen others try it but I imagine the jumper would still have an oversized fit up to a UK size 12. Hope that helps!

I love how your wardrobe staples all work together! I’m not so sure mine would/do, which is an interesting revelation in and of itself. Something for me to think about, because the ease in the ability to mix-and-match to create a bounty of outfits is priceless!

Yep, that was one thing I noticed when I put this together too. So many of my staples appear more than once in these outfits, which just goes to show how important it is to think about how you'd wear them, not just as standalone pieces.

Yes! It’s a good challenge to try to think of 3-5 (more?) outfits for an item before buying it. Thanks for the inspiration!

I’d love more info on WNU! I’ve been so curious about their button downs, but feel so lost when it comes to sizing. I’m hoping to be able to try them on my next trip to London, but any insight you could provide would be great!

I have the Boyfriend in UK size 8 (my usual size). It has a relaxed fit so it's slightly oversized but still sits in the right place on the shoulders. I'd say going for your usual size is the best bet, unless you want something really loose (they do have the Oversized for that too, though).

Loved this— I also did a mental deep dive after seeing Kelly and Irene’s video and it was such a good exercise! You have some fabulous staples xx

It's a great exercise! It really got me thinking about why I like the pieces I wear most. It will be so helpful to keep all this in mind when I think about adding something new to my wardrobe.

I RAN to read this after seeing the title in hopes that it would be your Best & Only and OH BOY did you deliver. Especially because I'm in the market for a white button down and WNU has quickly emerged as a favorite option. I'm checking Asket out now but curious which cut of the WNU you own?!

Also, I KNOW you've told me but I'm finally getting serious about the Louise Charlotte Oates coat; do you happen to have a way to contact her that isn't IG since I'm not on it?

WNU is reaallly good - their shorts are also excellent. I have the Boyfriend shirt in my usual size, it has a relaxed fit but it's not oversized so it feels very classic. The collar is quite stiff but in a good way because it stays in shape and place, but it's not too tight around the neck if you want to do the top button up.

Louisa Charlotte Oates is a dream, her coats are so beautifully made. You can send her an email louisaoates@hotmail.co.uk. She doesn't have a website unfortunately but she is very helpful and responsive so I'm sure she'll be able to send you lots of images!

One last question; if you could only have one would you choose Asket or WNU?! You are the best 😘 thank you x 1,000,000.

Loved this, thanks Angharad! Can I ask - do you think it would be possible to put the price next to each item, please? I’m on a strict budget at the moment and I dont want to click / fall in love with anything I can’t afford (and I’m sure I’m not alone in this cossie livs 😢)

Can I ask about sizing on the something to hold shirt? I can see the biggest size they do is a UK 14… I’m a 16 but wondering if it would fit if it’s oversized?

Thank you! 💖

Angharad Jones's avatar

My pleasure! Yes of course, I totally understand re pricing - I've definitely fallen in love with beautiful coats in the past, only to click and be completely deflated by the £2,000 price mark... those prices have all been added now.

I have size M in the STH shirt (I'm a UK size 8). It is very oversized so I probably could wear S and it would have the same effect. I imagine XS would also be relaxed but not as loose. Hope that helps!
