The Best Things I've Added to My Routine Over the Past Year
10 changes that have made a big difference.
Get a bunch of women together in their mid-30s, and inevitably the conversation will turn to: What skincare are you using? Are facial devices worth the money? Are you doing reformer Pilates or is mat just as good? Etc. etc.
That’s what happened on my recent hen weekend, usually over morning coffee or evening spritzes. I’m lucky enough to try out a lot of different products as part of my job, and one of my friends asked me to give them a quick list of my absolute musts. I.e. if I could only have one serum, it would be…
It’s an interesting question, and one that’s not always easy to answer (as I found when I tried to whittle down my best wardrobe staples). But when I really thought about it, there are 10 things I’ve added to my routine in the past year that have made the most difference — and have become habits that stuck.
SURI toothbrush
Hands up if your toothbrush has always been a bit of an afterthought? It was for me, until about a year ago when, after reading so many good things about SURI toothbrushes, I took the plunge and made the upgrade. Turns out, not all toothbrushes are created equally. I’ve noticeably seen (and felt) the difference in my teeth.
These electric toothbrushes are dentist-approved, the battery lasts for 40+ days, and they come with mirror mounts for storing them when they’re not in use — much cleaner and neater than those stands that end up full of gunk. Plus, this toothbrush has a slim, aluminium body that I’m happy to keep on display, and plant-based heads that you can send back to SURI for free to be recycled once you’re done with them. They come with a handy travel case that doubles as a charger when plugged in, and has a UV-C light that cleans the brush of 99.9% bacteria in one minute, too. I’ll never look at a “regular” toothbrush again.

Emma Lewisham serum*
A skin-loving blend of niacinamide and hyaluronic acid, which has helped improve my skin tone and brightness. Emma Lewisham skincare is all-natural and climate-positive, plus they do refills to cut down on packaging, which is very cool.
Sonsie multi moisture cream*
I use this as my nightly moisturiser and let me tell you, it’s worth the hype. I have sensitive skin, so I’m always slightly hesitant to introduce a new product, but this has been a dream for me. I wake up with smooth, hydrated skin every time I use it. Code ANGHARAD15 will get you 15% off.
Currentbody LED mask*
Another product that’s worth the hype. I use mine 3-5 times a week and have noticed a reduction in my dark circles and blemishes since I started using it. I’ve been using the Series 1 mask, but I just got the Series 2, which I’m excited to try. It has extra LED bulbs and full-face light coverage.
Monastery matte body oil*
I love the lasting effects of body oil, but not the having to wait ages to get dressed whenever I use one. This one’s lightweight and absorbs really quickly, plus its scent of grapefruit, pink peppercorn and gingergrass is delicious.
ZIIP Halo*

A facial toning device that actually works — I use mine a few times a week on the days when I want a little lift and glow. You need to use it regularly to see lasting results, but it’s worth the extra 4 minutes it adds to your skincare routine.
The Nue Co. Skin Filter
I don’t take many supplements, but this one is always part of my morning routine. It has zinc and vitamins A and C, and I’ve seen a visible difference in my skin tone since taking them.
The Nue Co. Pre + Probiotic
After seeing the success of Skin Filter and hearing great things about The Nue Co.’s other supplements, I decided to try this one out too. It helps support a healthy gut and has helped reduce my post-pasta food babies no end.
A nice glass water carafe

I mostly work from home, and generally, my water intake is pretty good. But I found that during times of looming deadlines, I wasn’t getting up to refill my glass as much as I should. So, I finally took the plunge and got a carafe to sit on my desk, which doesn’t take nearly as many trips to the tap. I know, genius! Bonus that it looks good too.
A daily workout

Speaking of work, a lot of my time is spent sitting down in front of a laptop. I could fall into the trap of not really moving my body very easily, so over the past year or so, I’ve made a conscious effort to get out every day to a yoga, Pilates or barre class. These are the types of classes I enjoy the most, so it didn’t take too long to build a habit of going every day (you’d have to drag me kicking and screaming to go out for a run, though). I was introduced to Left On Friday’s leggings* and sports bra* a few months ago and love wearing them for my classes — the quality and fit are excellent.

I swear there's nothing better than pilates! My favorite way to get my body moving (second to my 10k hot girl walks)!
I love the ZIIP Halo soooooo much - I thought it was pure bullshit but it really worked out on me!
